MAK’IT Visiting Scientist and Deputy Dean of the University of Zimbabwe

Prisca Hazvinei Mugabe has a D.Phil. in Rangeland Ecology and Management (Texas A&M University) MSc. Grassland Science (University of Reading) and BSc. Agriculture, Animal Science (University of Zimbabwe).  She has worked for three decades in university teaching, research, and community outreach services, primarily in communal rangeland systems. Her research and outreach has extended to transfrontier conservation areas.

A passionate communicator, she has co-authored several books and published to diverse scientific and practitioner audiences.

Dr. Mugabe has served as co-coordinator of the Research Platform “Production and Conservation in Partnership” (, as expert reviewer for UNEP Environment Outlook Series, for the Southern Africa Resilience Innovation lab and Zimbabwe’s National Commission for UNESCO, Natural Science Sector.
