The next Scientific Assembly of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (“IAHS 2021”) will take place in Montpellier (France) from 28 June to 2 July 2021.
As always, the objective of this important biennial event will be to provide an opportunity to communicate, exchange and project on all major topics in the hydrological sciences within the framework of sessions organized by all IAHS Commissions and Working Groups. In the context of the multiple instabilities that prevail today, the task is immense and yet scientists have a duty to provide elements of answers and solutions to the challenges facing us in the coming years. In this respect, the diversity and quality of the expected participants is the guarantee of a productive and high-level Assembly.
“IAHS 2021” in Montpellier will also be an opportunity to take stock of the Panta Rhei initiative (2013-2022) on change in hydrology and society. The acceleration of the UPH initiative, “Unsolved Problems in Hydrology”, established in 2017-2019, will be another highlight of this Assembly.
“IAHS 2021” will also launch IAHS’s 100th anniversary year! It will provide an opportunity for both retrospective and prospective synthesis and debate on the discipline and its interfaces with other scientific fields and societal challenges.
This event will be accompanied throughout this week by many other “water-related” events for scientists, the general public and schoolchildren.
Montpellier is a beautiful and old city in the south of France. Close to the Mediterranean Sea, it offers an exceptional setting for visits full of history. But it is also a hub for visiting the surrounding area and the hinterland which abounds in incomparable natural and environmental treasures, traditions linked to the Languedoc culture, unique wine-growing areas and traces of a Gallo-Roman past that is still very much alive.
“IAHS 2021” in Montpellier, a university created in 1289, a stronghold of scientific research in general and hydrology in particular, will undoubtedly be a major event and an important marker for the water sciences community.
From 28 June to 2 July 2021, join us in Montpellier for “IAHS 2021”!
